In 2020, Hornsea One became commercially operational and is now the largest offshore wind farm in the world! It is double the size of the previous record holder, Walney Extension and can power well over one million UK homes.
Construction has also started on
Hornsea Two, which will be built at the lowest ever contract price for offshore wind in the UK, and when complete in 2022 will overtake Hornsea One as the world’s biggest offshore wind farm, powering well over 1.3 million UK homes.
We are proposing to develop two more offshore wind farms, adjacent to these projects, and even bigger still!
Hornsea Three was granted a Development Consents Order (DCO) in December 2020 by the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Once operational, it will be capable of generating enough power to meet the average daily needs of well over 2 million homes. We are also exploring the potential to develop a fourth project, Hornsea Four, which is currently in the
pre-application phase.
